The Moonlight Boutique Hotel in Valencia, Spain, owes its name to the well-known local expression "to be under Valencia's moonlight" i.e. “to be delighted about something”. Its origins go back to ancient times when the city gates were closed at night and visitors had to wait to enter outside the city walls.
The hotel is located at the limits of the old city and recalls that moment of delight of the night before expecting the next day’s adventures, looking up at the moon and wishing for the daylight to come soon.

The restoration project involved the renovation of building structure itself and the entire reorganization of the interior spaces including the design of the restaurant area, the skybar and the rooftop pool.
The decor of the 26 rooms is inspired by the three artistic movements that defined Valencia's historical evolution: the Middle Ages, Modernism and the Avant-Garde.

The internal spaces maintain the traditional atmosphere of the building by repurposing frescoed ceilings through the use of tromp d'oeil and decorative wallpapers. The plastered walls constrast with the exposed rough stone of other walls. In the rooms the warm tones of wooden parquet floors dialogue with ceramic and contemporary materials for the bathroom areas. Minimalist and modern furnishings give way to the high ceilings, letting natural light in to bright up the room.

On the ground floor the hotel lobby features a contemporary design, a monolithic black desk dominates the space, the relaxation area is strongly characterized by the existing marble columns unearthed during the restoration.
On the street, the facade is painted with a typical light blue of the buildings in downtown Valencia, the large windows allow a glimpse of the interior space of the lobby, generating curiosity in passersby and giving the hotel a contemporaty feel.
